Effective October 7, 2026
Stride is a study app that connects to your iCollege (D2L Brightspace) account and turns your courses into AI study material. This page explains what Stride collects, what it does with it, who else processes it, and how to delete it. Stride is built and operated by Kush Patel, an independent developer in Atlanta, Georgia. Stride is not affiliated with Georgia State University, D2L, or Brightspace.
Your email address and a password. Passwords are stored hashed by our authentication provider; Stride never sees or stores them in plain text.
When you sign in to iCollege inside Stride, Stride keeps the session cookies iCollege issues so it can sync your courses without asking you to sign in every time. These cookies are encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM) and are decrypted only on Stride's servers, only to talk to iCollege on your behalf. They are never shown in the app, never shared with anyone else, and expire on their own within about a week, after which Stride asks you to sign in again. Signing out or deleting your account removes them.
Using that session, Stride syncs from iCollege: your course list, grades and grade items, assignments and due dates, announcements, calendar events, quiz descriptions, course files and pages, links, and discussion topics. Discussion topics include posts by classmates that are visible to you in iCollege; Stride stores them only inside your own account, so Stride can answer your questions about the course, and never shows them to anyone else.
Files you upload to a personal course, your conversations with Stride, and everything Stride generates for you (study guides, flashcards, quizzes, mind maps, audio and video overviews). Chat history is stored on Stride's servers so it survives a reinstall.
Which features you use, how much AI usage your account consumes and what it costs (this is how plan limits work), and diagnostic logs when something fails. Stride has no advertising trackers and does not use third-party analytics SDKs.
A push notification token, if you allow notifications. Nothing else about your device.
Payments are handled by Stripe. Stride stores your Stripe customer id and your subscription status. Stride never sees or stores card numbers.
Stride does not sell your data and does not share it with advertisers.
Stride runs on service providers that process data on Stride's behalf, under their own privacy terms:
Only the excerpts needed for a given request are sent to AI providers. Under their API terms, Anthropic and OpenAI do not use that data to train their models.
Stride may also disclose information when required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of users and the service.
Stride may show how many classmates in a course also use Stride. That is a count, never names. When a classmate has already had the identical instructor-posted file processed, Stride reuses that processing rather than repeating it; this applies to course files, not to anything personal.
Stride keeps your data while your account exists. Deleting your account (Settings, then Delete account) removes your account, iCollege session, synced course data, uploads, chats, and generated material, and cancels any Stripe subscription. Most data is removed immediately; residual copies in backups are removed on the normal backup cycle. Server logs are kept briefly for debugging and then discarded. You can also email the address below to request deletion.
Data moves over TLS. iCollege sessions are encrypted at rest and never leave Stride's servers except to iCollege itself. AI provider keys live only on the server; the app never talks to AI providers directly.
Stride is for college students and is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, email the address below and it will be removed.
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the effective date above changes and the app will say so.
